If you have received a stimulus check for a deceased member of your family, the IRS is now requesting that you send those funds back if the person passed away in 2018 or 2019.
The original guidance issued from the IRS was that the funds did not need to be returned, however last week the Treasury Department issued a statement indicating that those funds were sent in error and therefore should be returned. On May 6, 2020, the IRS issued guidelines for returning the monies.
Please contact our office for instructions on where to send the returned check or reimbursement back to the IRS.
